These considerations, stripped of their mystical connotations, play an important role throughout this book. Moreno developed the psychodrama proper during his American period, from 1926 onward, when he studied complex group-dynamic processes in prisons, schools, reformatories, and clinics on the basis of his ad hoc theater experience gathered in Vienna.
