Galileo’s case is an example of how a movement that started without any intention of revolution moved eventually in that direction.

Galileo’s charting of new worlds in the sky had very definite earthly parallels in the discoveries and geographical wanderings of explorers, settlers and traders around the world, as well as in the more rigorous control of the further reaches of what is now called the ‘British Isles’.
